Sequoia Grove produces classically-inspired Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon-based blends that combine traditional Old World character and structure with the sun-drenched fruit and velvety textures that say Napa Valley.

Sequoia Grove Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of estate-controlled vineyards in Rutherford and components from St. Helena, Atlas Peak, and Oak Knoll. The 2007 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded “Best of Class Cabernet” in the 2011 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

Sequoia Grove Carneros Chardonnay is 100 percent Chardonnay grown in the sea-cooled hills of southern Napa Valley. Dijon and Wente clones create a sleek, delicious wine that is rich and full-bodied with brisk acidity and an underlying minerality.

Sequoia Grove Cambium is an elite cellar selection blended from the finest lots of a given vintage. Cambium combines the understated elegance and detailed structure of a great Old World wine with the bold sensations and heroic proportions of classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Michael Trujillo, our Director of Winemaking and President, has been with Sequoia Grove since its beginnings. joining the team in 1982. We are fortunate as well to have Winemaker Molly Hill overseeing daily operations and quality control. Together Michael and Molly share the same passion for excellence, and have forged great relationships to acquire the best Napa Valley fruit available. Our Bordeaux-style wines show varietal expression, structure and balance with a true sense of place; a fresh approach yielding modern-day liquid treasures.

Wines

2005 Rutherford Bench Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Deep, dark red in color, the intensity of the color immediately gets your attention. The nose quickly wows with notes of milk chocolate, black licorice, pencil lead and that ever present, elusive dusty, spicy character. Secondary notes of vanilla and black pepper bring the nose deeper into the glass. On the palate, the wine is seamless and very stacked with great structure. Fresh blackberry tickles the tongue from first entry to finish. The wine ends in anupnote of flavor, encouraging another sip.

2006 Rutherford Bench Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Inky red in color with an immediate hit of juicy, red cherries and fresh raspberries with background notes of red plum. Caramelized toast and cinnamon and clove aromas wave in the background. There is a hint of sage, cigar box, and that classic ‘allspice’ note. Well balanced palate with nice acid, round, subtle tannins and a lingering finish.

2006 Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Intense almost blue/black in color with rich aromas of roasted plums that gives way to notes of tar, tobacco, and brine. There are intriguing hints of mint and rosemary interlaced with cinnamon and cloves. On the palate, the wine is plush and round, with very forward flavors of plum and raspberry fruit giving way to a sweet tobacco finish.

2006 Morisoli Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

Dark red in color and dusty red fruit upon first sniff, morphing into complex aromas of anise and dark chocolate, with layers of clove and cedar. With round tannins on the palate and a lingering finish of sweet vanilla, this well-built wine is surprisingly supple.

2006 Lamoreaux Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Dark red in color with an intoxicating aroma of chocolate-covered cherries and raisins, clove and cinnamon spices. A slight charred character plays with notes of brine and carob. Hints of red roses dance in and out. On the palate the initial taste is round and forward with flavors of charred cranberries coming through on the mid-palate and giving way to a balanced and lengthy finish.

2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Dark black in color, the nose gives aromas of red cherry and blackberries with sweet vanilla, nutmeg, and cigar box notes. There is a hint of crushed flower petals and notes of pencil lead and peppercorn in the background. The palate has a big, round silky arc with smooth tannins and impeccable balance. Flavors of blackberry and spice blend into a smoky finish.

2008 Stagecoach Syrah

Red black in color with aromas of black cherry and boysenberry and lesser notes of charred meat and tea leaves. The palate is silky and round with a hint of delicate oak and cigar on the finish. Excellent with barbequed ribs with a spicy rub.

2008 Carneros Chardonnay

Rich gold in color, the aroma is heady and intense with complex notes of lemon verbena, fresh mango, and crème brulée. Further olfactory discovery leads to red ripe apple, cinnamon, toasted pineapple, and lemon/lime aromas. There is a hint of mineral steeliness, similar to wet river rocks, in the background. The wine has bright lemon/lime on the palate, continuing to ripe pineapple, and ending with a long, custardy finish.

2010 Sauvignon Blanc

Aromas of fresh cut grass, minerals, pink grapefruit, and a hint of citrus blossom and lime juice. The perfectly balanced acidity matches the mid-palate roundness and ends with a touch of light toast flavor.
